"Beef" Stroganoff

"Beef" Stroganoff

I've always thought the idea of meat in cream sauce was disgusting...and now I know that applies even to vegetarians. This stroganoff was absolutely horrible. And I don't think the tasteless, rubbery, mushy pieces of blah (called Trader Joe's Beef-less Strips) helped at all. I've read reviews on this product, and I seem to be the only one that doesn't like them. Everyone raves about how delicious they are in stir-fries and fajitas...so maybe it was the stroganoff itself. The mix of sour cream, tomato paste, and sherry was just...UGH. I would have preferred some kind of mock gravy to this nastiness. Even the smell was enough to turn me off. Strangely enough, I finished what you see on the plate...but it wasn't easy. The sauce was...imagine eating nasty, tasteless, chewy {something} smothered in melted sour cream with a bad wino undertone. It was truly gross. Thankfully, this recipe only made enough for two servings, so I didn't feel too badly about throwing the rest of it out.

Make again? Never! (And this has put me off from trying those beef-less things again.)
